VLC crashes instantly opening any decrypted Bluray ISO

Postby Pheran » 10 Jul 2022 20:04

I have a set of decrypted Bluray ISO files that were ripped with AnyDVD HD. It used to be that I could open and play most of these just fine using VLC, but unfortunately something changed on my system and I didn't realize it for a while, so I can't pinpoint what it was. Now, if I open any Bluray ISO with VLC it instantly crashes hard before displaying anything; process completely goes away. Interestingly, it can open a DVD ISO without crashing.

System specs:

VLC 3.0.17.4 64-bit
Windows 10 21H2
Intel Core i5-6600 (Skylake)
32GB RAM
nVidia RTX 3060

Things I have tried:

Uninstall/reinstall VLC and deleted prefs/cache
Manually delete %appdata%/VLC
Update to current nVidia drivers
Disable hardware acceleration in VLC

None of that has had any effect on the instant crash. I would love more troubleshooting suggestions.

Thank you!! I had apparently upgraded to Java 8u331 which crashed, I tried upgrading to Java 8u333 but that also crashed. Downgrading to Java 8u321 solved the problem.
