Hello, I've been long putting this off. I've finally made an account just to get this sorted because the other forum posts I found didn't offer any working solutions to me.

Issue is simple: I play video, everything is good. I get interrupted so I pause, when I come back audio resumes but video is stuck on 1 frame.
This has happened across multiple versions. As of right now I'm on the latest 3.0.16 and it still happens.
I've updated my nvidia drivers multiple times over the months so I assume it's not due to those.
The way to fix it in the moment is to disable and reenable the video track or to stop and resume the file from where it was left off.
Is there anything I can do to prevent it from freezing the video in the first place?
I'm not streaming, all files are locally stored.

I'm on Win10, with 32 Gb Ram. Not sure what other details you'd need me to provide.

Please open Tools -> Messages (set Verbosity to 2) before you start the playback, and then paste the full resulting log here or on Pastebin.com if it's too long.

I've been trying to recreate it to reply for the past few days but I haven't been able to. I'll definitely provide the log once I can get it to freeze on me again.
It's really peculiar because it's been happening for months if not years but it's never been persistently happening. Usually it happens multiple times in a row followed by period when it doesn't happen.
I've not been able to crack why it's caused.

also cant get it to reproduce right now but its happened many times for me as well lately. even have the latest nightly build and it still seems to happen. heres a possibility:::: now typing from an intel laptop and it seems to happen less frequently than on my ryzen desktop. could it be part of the problem? there is a yt video someone posted that shows there is a known glitch with ryzen drivers, not sure if its been addressed yet. i will try linux soon as well to see.

I am on intel i9 13th and nvidia 4090.

Same here mostly on movies but even then not always just randomly and if minibar disappears then no idea at what point of video is (unless exits full screen).

I'm not sure what is going wrong there, especially with such graphics card.
You should create a new report ticket on the VLC issues tracker with your above report, the link to your sample file and the link to this thread:

Check if the problem is with HEVC.h265 A/V files, as here https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=143103 .
