no audio on some Twitter videos

An issue has shown up only recently on some Twitter videos downloaded with yt-dlp (a bit more challenging the last couple of days, but that has nothing to do with this problem). For a small percentage of Twitter videos (again, I have never seen this until a few weeks ago), VLC will play the video perfectly, but won't play any audio at all (other media players, such as mpv, will play both video and audio correctly).

In attempting to determine the cause of this issue, I have a possible clue. It appears that the videos with no sound output display a different muxer in mediainfo. For example (obscuring some irrelevant details):

VLC will play the audio if I remux the second video (with mkvmerge, for example), but obviously, I believe that VLC should play these videos correctly without remuxing, particularly since other media players can. I (or rather the less sophisticated user who discovered this) have VLC 3.0.18 (compiled from source).

Any thoughts on this?

Just cutting part of the file from the beginning produced errors on playback (partial file, error reading packet), and I wanted to avoid any processing that might change the containers, so I just uploaded the whole thing (about nine minutes and 150 MB).

Yes, I can reproduce the issue with the demuxer set to automatic, but it's playing fine when forcing the demuxer to Avformat.

I signed in to my GitLab account, and then went to https://code.videolan.org/users/sign_in . When I select Gitlab.com and allow "Authorize VideoLAN Gitlab to use your account?," I get the message: "Signing in using your GitLab.com account without a pre-existing GitLab account is not allowed." The page https://gitlab.com/-/profile/applications does show "VideoLAN Gitlab" as an authorized application, but the videolan.org page won't let me log in.

Any ideas?

I guess you need a specific new account for code.videolan.org.

I have a similar issue with downloaded twitter videos (via twitter video downloader extension)
Usually they work fine, but everyone now and then, like 15% of them,
have issues with the audio and a few of them will also just cut of after a few seconds of playback.
Those files play without issues in any other player or browser.
