BIG Problems with Sound

hi,
I am using vlc since today, but I have a big problem. whenever i start a video file, the sound is so loud and it crashes, that i must completely make the sound off. first i have installed the version 0.8.4 test2, then i thought maybe its a bug and i installed the version 0.8.2, but it also doesn´t work. after the crashes sound completely doesn´t work, i cant hear music and i cant hear sound in games. so what i have to do???? please help fast, i have heard much good things about vlc, so i want use it. P.S. Sorry for my bad english

EDIT: IS THERE SOMEBODY???

I read this article, but im not sure i understood it right. i did it like in the discribtion, but it didnt work. i m not sure what to do with Advanced [x] (I dont know what it means.

preferences

----> Advanced [x]
-----> Audio
------>Audio Output Module (Choose Win32 waveOut extension output)

This means you should enable, check, make an x in the white square before the word "Advanced" (lower right). Only if you have enabled these advanced settings you can change them according to the description.

If your Windows is not English, then the word Advanced and many of the other menu entries will be in your local language. So y<ou have to figure out which entries are meant. As far as I learned, it is not possible to change the language of VLC, even if you have choosen English when you are asked at the beginning of the install process. That's no bug, it's a feature :-(
