Re: What's the latest version and why do different VLC sources list different latest versions?

Either way, if this 5% is random how do you know they're the type of people to make enough noise when something goes bad? Exactly that. This figure has been chosen to be larger than our beta user pool and small enough to prevent impacting too many users. Thanks, but what I meant was if the 5% is ra...

Re: What's the latest version and why do different VLC sources list different latest versions?

We currently are in a roll out. The app is only updated for a percentage of our users (5% today) to make sure it's stable enough before sending it to our millions of users. Is it by your choice or does Google do it for every app? Either way, if this 5% is random how do you know they're the type of ...

Re: What's the latest version and why do different VLC sources list different latest versions?

I just wondered when you wrote you released it half an hour ago was it because of my post? In any case, the Play Store entry shows this week's date, but still downloads the previous version. :-( Does it mean they update the date despite not finishing the review (which was submitted at the beginning ...

Re: What's the latest version and why do different VLC sources list different latest versions?

The Play Store entry indeed shows this week's date now (it has a standalone date regardless of one's devices). Does it mean you do have the power to push it there?

Re: What's the latest version and why do different VLC sources list different latest versions?

By now it's even more confusing - both https://code.videolan.org/videolan/vlc-android/raw/master/NEWS state 3.6.0 is the latest version and https://code.videolan.org/videolan/vlc-android/-/commits/master/NEWS?ref_type=heads state 3.6.0 while the actual Google Play Store entry is still from October 2...

But v3.5.5's changelog states that, not v3.5.7. In fact, it lists new fixes and features in both v3.5.6 and v3.5.7.

Re: SMB for VLC on (Android TV) suddenly stopped working after clearing media db and app db..

Is there an issue about it? Is an official fix expected soon?
The fix is here: https://code.videolan.org/videolan/vlc/ ... uests/3870

It will be included in the 3.6 version.
The Play Store version was since updated to 3.5.7, why only 3.6?

What's the latest version and why do different VLC sources list different latest versions?

https://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-android.html states 3.5.4 but then without blinking it immediately links to https://code.videolan.org/videolan/vlc-android/raw/master/NEWS which seems to indicate 3.5.7 is the newest. Meanwhile, https://www.videolan.org/news.html lists 3.5.0 (from 2022) as the n...

Re: I can't get past "SMB authentication required"..

I'm not sure it's related to this SMB fix but I think it's worth a try (that link instructs to replace stable VLC with a beta one - you can keep the stable one while you test the beta, and if the beta doesn't help just remove it).

Re: SMB for VLC on (Android TV) suddenly stopped working after clearing media db and app db..

The fix is here: https://code.videolan.org/videolan/vlc/-/merge_requests/3870 Something isn't right in this fix - it blames "last Windows update" for what happened, but one its included fixes states "Since last Windows 11 update (KB5026436), Windows SMB servers need a valid Auth (use...

Your device is probably using an armv7 CPU. Can you try this instead? https://artifacts.videolan.org/vlc-android/nightly-armv7/ Thank You aza,, That worked absolutely perfect. Issue resolved. Between new icon color change is refreshing. It fixed it for me too (VLC-Android-3.5.4-armv7-20231015-0122....

And also a ticket about vlsub_conf.xml storing an opensubtitles.org password in plaintext.

Re: VLsub throws an error msg

Thanks! Just 1 thing: 4- accept that another nefarious link to you has been forged... Add to that the fact the password is saved in plaintext . Also, if you use the VLC command-line --config=[config_file] then better remember the VLSub file with your password is saved elsewhere, so you might want to...

Can vlsub_conf.xml be made portable?

Now that VLSub must be configured, can it at least be portable?

Currently, configuring any setting in VLSub creates %APPDATA%\vlc\lua\extensions\userdata\vlsub\vlsub_conf.xml

Is there any VLC command-line just like --config=<string> to make it a use a local portable file?

Re: How to Center Window Position?

I hope it's okay to resurrect this old topic, but I experience the very same scenario. Centering is automatically for low resolution videos, but completely hides the bottom (and some of the right side) of high resolution videos (also see the still true Window X,Y coordinates won't work? ). While the...

Also, we don't register users.
I meant you let users register themselves, filling in passwords, etc.

Re: Can you make sure the website always forces https/ssl?

Well, the very notion of using cookies and registering users might constitute holding information.
Plus there are the moral issues - the sacrifice of privacy to please old clients.
And you also gradually risk getting hurt or blocked in search engines and browsers.

Sorry, but no.
What do you mean, why not? Moral issues aside, it might also be illegal in Europe due to GDPR.

Can you make sure the website always forces https/ssl?

Both http://videolan.org and http://www.videolan.org don't redirect to https. The former just adds www and the latter doesn't do any redirection. As result, anyone that uses them (manually or through outdated external links, e-mail, instant messaging, etc.) browses the website in a non secure way. C...

https://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html offers a 64-bit installer, but no matching Zip/7zip packages, forcing the user to go looking for them in older versions instead, which is both manual and non secure ( https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?t=153334 - this forum blocks links). How you got this file - i.e. what exact software was used to rip it from DVD?
How you got those stats? Well, I've used DVD Decrypter + Mpg2Cut2, but got the same results with DVDShrink.
