Re: I can't get past "SMB authentication required"..

I'm not sure it's related to this SMB fix but I think it's worth a try (that link instructs to replace stable VLC with a beta one - you can keep the stable one while you test the beta, and if the beta doesn't help just remove it).

Re: SMB for VLC on (Android TV) suddenly stopped working after clearing media db and app db..

The fix is here: https://code.videolan.org/videolan/vlc/-/merge_requests/3870 Something isn't right in this fix - it blames "last Windows update" for what happened, but one its included fixes states "Since last Windows 11 update (KB5026436), Windows SMB servers need a valid Auth (use...

Re: SMB for VLC on (Android TV) suddenly stopped working after clearing media db and app db..

Your device is probably using an armv7 CPU. Can you try this instead? https://artifacts.videolan.org/vlc-android/nightly-armv7/ Thank You aza,, That worked absolutely perfect. Issue resolved. Between new icon color change is refreshing. It fixed it for me too (VLC-Android-3.5.4-armv7-20231015-0122....

Thanks! I've made a ticket then to officially document it.

And also a ticket about vlsub_conf.xml storing an opensubtitles.org password in plaintext.

Re: VLsub throws an error msg

Thanks! Just 1 thing: 4- accept that another nefarious link to you has been forged... Add to that the fact the password is saved in plaintext . Also, if you use the VLC command-line --config=[config_file] then better remember the VLSub file with your password is saved elsewhere, so you might want to...

Can vlsub_conf.xml be made portable?

Now that VLSub must be configured, can it at least be portable?

Currently, configuring any setting in VLSub creates %APPDATA%\vlc\lua\extensions\userdata\vlsub\vlsub_conf.xml

Is there any VLC command-line just like --config=<string> to make it a use a local portable file?

Re: How to Center Window Position?

I hope it's okay to resurrect this old topic, but I experience the very same scenario. Centering is automatically for low resolution videos, but completely hides the bottom (and some of the right side) of high resolution videos (also see the still true Window X,Y coordinates won't work? ). While the...

I have a more minor request - http s ://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html contains a link called "our archives". It links to http s ://download.videolan.org/pub/videolan/vlc - the problem is it then does a second redirect to htt p ://download.videolan.org/pub/videolan/vlc/ (instea...

Re: Can you make sure the website always forces https/ssl?

Well, the very notion of using cookies and registering users might constitute holding information.
Plus there are the moral issues - the sacrifice of privacy to please old clients.
And you also gradually risk getting hurt or blocked in search engines and browsers.

Sorry, but no.
What do you mean, why not? Moral issues aside, it might also be illegal in Europe due to GDPR.

Can you make sure the website always forces https/ssl?

Both http://videolan.org and http://www.videolan.org don't redirect to https. The former just adds www and the latter doesn't do any redirection. As result, anyone that uses them (manually or through outdated external links, e-mail, instant messaging, etc.) browses the website in a non secure way. C...

Can you remove the word FTP and secure the link to Windows' Older versions?

As described in "Can you add direct links to 64-bit Windows ZIP/7z?" ( https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?t=153333 - this forum blocks links), one has to click Older versions instead. However, it: Wrongfully claims it's ftp white it's not. Even if it's somehow tunneled from FTP, it's...

https://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html offers a 64-bit installer, but no matching Zip/7zip packages, forcing the user to go looking for them in older versions instead, which is both manual and non secure ( https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?t=153334 - this forum blocks links). trac ticket created.
Can someone please update the ticket? V1.1.0 has also added font cache:

%APPDATA%\vlc\randomID-i686.cache-2
Unless of course there's a parameter that stops it?

How you got those stats? Well, I've used DVD Decrypter + Mpg2Cut2, but got the same results with DVDShrink.

This video IS marked as having a 2.35:1 DAR so VLC is displaying it right accordingdly Is this from MediaInfo? I know it claims 2.35:1 but PowerDVD claims otherwise. Maybe the video should be remuxed with the correct DAR of 16:9 because I think there is a conflict between the MPEG PS container DAR ...

"--ignore-config" does two different things. Can you divide "--ignore-config" into them (e.g. "--no-saveto-config" & "--no-load-config")? "--no-load-config" would still allow to save changes into the config, and "--no-saveto-config" wou...
