Audio issues, crackle, no sound, 0.8.2

Postby tk2k » 26 Jul 2005 19:14

hi,
whenever i try to play a video file with vlc, i would get a horrendous cracke oaver the speakers, it sounded almost like a am radio station durring a thunder storm turned up to max. the original audio would stil be playing beneth this noise. The file works fine on divx 6 player, wmp and clasic media player. this is also true for all other video files on my computer.
I uninstalled vlc, re-downloaded it, and installed it again. same thing.
however something odd i noticed was that it only makes the noise when in sterio mode or mono, 5.1 sounds normal, however most of my files are not in 5.1 mode.

system specs
amd 3000+
1gb ram
xp pro sp2 (latest patches)
dfi nf4 sli motherboard (nvidia audio driver)
klipsch 5.1 ultra system (analog)

all vlc settings are at default
thanks
