WMAP support?

Postby acri1 » 06 Feb 2011 00:17

Hello,

I'm new, so please excuse my ignorance.

I'm currently on Ubuntu 10.04 (64 bit), and I'm having trouble with certain WMV files. The video is fine, but there's no audio and I get the following message:
No suitable decoder module:
VLC does not support the audio or video format "wmap". Unfortunately there is no way for you to fix this.

Any ideas? I know there are legal issues with that file format, but I'd think some sort of workaround exists. I've tried downloading w64codecs as well as libavcodec-unstripped-52, and reinstalling VLC, but still nothing. For what it's worth I get the same thing in SMplayer, though without the error message. Any help is appreciated.

You probably need a newer version of libavcodec and VLC.
