Disable YUV Hardware Overlay

Postby Mr. Y » 14 Apr 2008 01:05

Hi, I'm having a problem with this YUV Hardware Overlay. Whenever I double-click on a media file, it opens with VLC Media Player, but in a seperate window, and not the player itself. I've searched the forum and the FAQ, but nothing addresses my issue. Can anyone tell me how to make a file open in the actual player?

Delete your preferences and cache files by going to (enter in Windows Explorer address bar):
%APPDATA%

And delete the "vlc" folder. Then open VLC and try a video.

The option of having the video embedded/not embedded in called "Embed video in interface" in the "Interface >> Main interfaces >> wxWidgets" part of the Preferences.

Cheers, Arite.

Thanks, Arite. However, the video still shows up in a seperate box whenever I double-click on a file. It works fine when I open the player, and then go to "Open" and play a file; however, not whenever I simply double-click a media file.

Solved! (?)

Postby Mr. Y » 14 Apr 2008 01:42

Well, I just think I solved it. I opened up the Task Manager, and it turned out I had around ten instances of "vlc.exe" open. I closed them all, then clicked on a video, and it opened up in the player.

So, my problem seems to be solved for now. I'll reboot now, and if anything pops up again (hopefully not), I'll reply back.
