VLC can't play RM files?

I've been trying to play RM movies on VLC, but it tells me that

"main: no suitable decoder module for fourcc `RV20'.
VLC probably does not support this sound or video format"

what should I do to get it to work?

Use RealPlayer. It's a proprietary format, that's why the program is telling you it cannot play it.

Also, check out the Features List, off of the main VLC page -- it lets you know what is, and is not, supported by VLC.

been trying to use RealPlayer but for some reason it freezes after 5 minutes of viewing so I tried using VLC. Oh well better talk to the people who made Real.

Can't blame you for trying, just that it won't work. The common things that are proprietary, not played by VLC, are Real, newer Indeo (eg, IV50), and newer Microsoft (WMV9).
