Just a quick quastion: What is verbose and what is the differens betwine 0,1,2?

The verbose-option defines if and how much debug-messages are written to the console, etc. "0" or "-1" are no debug messages, "1" and "2" are more and more messages (as much as you want and need). Which message is shown in which level is defined by its priority (e.g. important error messages are shown every case, informations about the compilation-flags only in level-2).

However, you'll probably need this option only if you want to debug VLC or want to send us detailed crash-logs.
