How to embed a streaming URL into a VLC shortcut?

Greetings,

New here, and I'm not sure what I would have to search for to find an answer to this question, if an answer exists.

I want to embed a streaming shortcut from Jefferson Public Radio's classical station (in Oregon) into a VLC shortcut so that I can just double-click the shortcut and have the stream begin (or click Play after opening it).

As it stands, I currently have to open VLC, go to Media > Open network stream, paste the URL in there, and then click Play...headache!

Anyway to create the embedded URL?

Well, that saves the stream to a file, yes, but it doesn't open automatically when I double-click the VLS shortcut. I'm wanting to know if I can set a shortcut to VLC so that when I open it, it automatically plays the particular stream I set to it?

If playlist files are associated with VLC, then clicking a playlist file should start to play it in VLC. You can create a copy of VLC desktop shortcut, rename it and edit its properties (right-click context menu) to append a space and url to "\vlc.exe".

Yeah, clicking the file of the stream that's now in Playlist does in fact play, but I'm really after what you say after that: "create a copy of VLC desktop shortcut, rename it and edit its properties (right-click context menu) to append a space and url to "\vlc.exe"." I'm going to try that right now...BRILLIANT! That worked. I will note, however, that initially I was trying to append the file (and its location), which didn't work. Fortunately, I stumbled upon the URL when I went to Media > Open Recent Media. Embedding that into the target location worked. Thanks very much!

This worked for me as well. I created multiple shortcut for each streaming link and pinned it to start.
