VLC not working 100%

Postby Saua » 22 May 2019 18:36

Hi.
I don´t know it it is an issue with VLC or Windows 10.
I´m running latest version of Windows 10 x64 (May Update) v1903 Build 18362.113. VLC was working fine until this version.
Today there was a new cumulative update of Windows 10 changing version to Build 18362.113. Everything worked fine, but when I try to reproduce OGG files, VLC doesn´t reproduce the files and stop working. Forcing to close the program.
Other extensions work fine.
Reseted the preferences, uninstalled, reinstalled, even x32 version of VLC. Same issue with portable version. Tried another player (KM Player as a test) and the files were reproduced without errors. After making several tests, I prefered to restore my Windows to the previous version Build 18362.113.
Or does it happen just for me?

I don´t know if the image helps, but with windows 10 latest cumulative update, OGG files aren´t recognized and VLC freezes.

Hi, can you share the logs ?
To help you, we need messages, to completely understand what your problems is.
To fix this, please be sure before you start the playback to:
  1. Open: Tools -> Messages.
  2. Set Verbosity to 2
  3. Start playback to reproduce your issue
  4. Save text in a file or copy into clipboard
  5. Then paste the full resulting log here between [code]and[/code] (or use Pastebin.com if it's too long)
Also don't forget to name your Operating System and provide the VLC media player version.

In my situation, VLC issues popup OOps crashed notify support yes - no I have sent several.....
windows Movie & TV displays the main window then after 15 seconds disappears......
have resinstall VLC several times
On W10 with powershell ....DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth ---- made no diff
.... SFC /scannow ---- made no difference
removed Movies & TV .... Get-AppxPackage *zunevideo* | Remove-AppxPackage --- VLC didn't give oops , but won't play vid
reinstall Movies & TV .... Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppxManifest.xml"}

So far nothing has helped,, I'm sure its a windows issue , 2 other updated pc's working ok
Apparenty there is a common element and I have no clue what it is....
I tried to check event logs, but they have changed so much I havn't found any thing ......
Does anybody have any Ideas ---- Oh everything else seems to be working fine.....
