Unable to open VLC on mac anymore

Since yesterday I am unable to open VLC on mac. I was watching some videos and it just quit after few. After that whenever I try to open the app it just shows a small window of VLC and quits immediately. I tried reinstalling the app twice using different downloads the official site and even reinstalled my os and nothing. I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing this and how to approach the problem.

Delete the VLC.app from /Applications and redownload it.

Thanks but as mentioned above I already tried this. I removed all files from my mac associated with the app(preferences etc) and then install it again. I did it couple of times. Then I even reinstalled MacOS and it still won't start. My first attempt to open it (after starting the mac) it shows an error " The application VLC has quit unexpectedly
The system and other applications have not been affected. A reported has been created that you can send to VidoLAN to help indentify the problem...."

Then, you should launch it from the command line, with -vvv to check the logs, because there is nothing obvious here.

I have the same problem as funky888. I don't know how to launch it with that command line. I've redownload it several times and it keeps appearing the error VLC quit unexpetedly.

Would you be able to help me please?

I have found what the problem was. I have to delete Razer Synapse as it seems it was causing the problem with the audio. FYI funky 888. Loon in the message of error when reporting and you may find the app that is causing the trouble.

I don't seem to have anything like Razer Synapse on my mac and I am not familiar with the process of commands here. Can you provide some steps As for the error message tells nothing but: "The application VLC has quit unexpectedly The system and other applications have not been affected. A reported has been created that you can send to VidoLAN to help indentify the problem...." and I have send button -thats it.

Are you getting "LSOpenURLsWithRole() failed with error -10810 for the file /Applications/vlc.app."? Because that's what I'm getting in the command-line, with or without -vvv.

Please try to reset preferences (as described here: https://wiki.videolan.org/VSG:ResetPrefs/#Manual_deletion).
