VLC media player for windows and listening to BBC live streaming radio

Postby skippi » 22 Sep 2016 16:52

Hello I am new to vlc and to the forum. I have searched for recent relevant topics before posting

I thought that BBC radio stations can't generally be streamed via vlc...the only one I found for about two hours of searching was for the BBC world service via an american link that adds adverts and requests donations (pointless as the BBC has its own www. free iplayer and the world service is easily accessed from many other free sources...it is meant to be free) But I wanted to use vlc for everything if possible so that I can really get to grips with it's interface.

I had already tried several link addresses to use by inputting via media - open network stream, with no luck.

I joined the forum because I wanted to confirm that the BBC blocks vlc from streaming and that I was not missing something simple

In fact I was missing something simple

this page is a great resource for finding the correct web addresses to add to your own VLC to customise your radio lists

....I have answered my own question and I wanted to share it with anyone else having similar difficulty

Thanks for VLC and happy listening to all <3
