K-Lite Mega Codec Pack & VLC Media Player

Postby cutting_edgetech » 22 Feb 2014 00:40

I need to know if it is ok to use VLC Media Player with K-Lite Mega Codec pack which comes with Media Player Classic. I had VLC Player & K-Lite Mega Codec Pack installed on the same machine in the past, and I did not experience any conflict that i'm aware of. I recently read that the optional codec pack that is available for Windows Media Player can interfere with K-Lite Mega Codec Pack so I started to wonder whether VLC Player can also interfere with K-Lite Mega Codec Pack. Are there any known conflicts with having K-Lite Mega Codec Pack, and VLC Player installed on the same machine? I like using Media Player Classic, and VLC Player.

VLC is using its own built-in codecs and can not use any other external codec but the DMO ones from Windows Media.

Therefore I see no reason why any codec pack should interfere with VLC.
