uninstall the spyware

and uninstall at least half of the services showing in the system tray that you don't use at least every day

and if you happen to have 2 firewalls then at the very least turn one of them off

you can make the vlc process use a higher processor priority in the settings preferences

I would suggest making all real-time media use a real-time priority

if you are running p2p sharing and playing an online realtime game and dl'ing and installing java all at the same time and expect vlc to run good then you will want to learn more about performance issues

you can't set processor priority in the settings preferences..

however you can increase the priority..

under the advanced node -> click other -> on the right.. "increase priority".. save

GREAT ADVICE! Worked like a charm for me... and i've been combing these forums all day. You should put up a faq or something! :D
