Daisy Talking Book

Postby Inkie_Squid » 20 Jan 2013 23:24

Hi all,
I'm an Open University student and I receive my course material in the format of Daisy Talking Books (DTB), consisting of MP3s that link to text (which is highlighted as the relevant mp3 plays).

There's a few free DTB players available and I'm using AMIS at the moment, but it's limited and frequently crashes if you try to replay something that has just been read out. Unfortunately, I also find that some of the volunteer readers are difficult to follow without changing the speed of the mp3, something that VLC does very well but that doesn't seem to work properly with AMIS.

And so here's my request, instead of using VLC to play the mp3s and a web browser to read along (without the benefit of highlighted text) could you implement a DTB reader addon for the visual material?

regards,

Inkie.

Has any generous techie started working on this? I understand that it's perhaps not the most popular of requests but it would improve my quality of life substantially (and perhaps help me pass my degree :)

many thanks,
Craig
