VLC (any version) does not start properly

Postby watisiti » 20 Jan 2013 20:10

Hi,

hope you can help me with a problem I encountered just recently. I tried to open the VLC player and it does not open at all. It just opens the below messages. I tried to go back to an earlier date, I also deleted and re-install the VLC player (different versions). I tried to delete every trace, but it still does this. I really love the VLC-player and don't like using something else, but I'm not an IT expert so this is something I cannot fix on my own.

Thanks for your help

[0342d994] oldrc interface: VLC media player - 1.1.10 The Luggage
[0342d994] oldrc interface: Copyright @ 1996-2011 the VideoLAN team
[0342d994] oldrc interface:
Warning: if you can't access the GUI anymore, open a command-line window, go to
the directory where you installed VLC and run "vlc - I qt"

Remote control interface initialized. Type 'help' for help.
[00522a6c] main libvlc: Running vlc with the default interface. Use 'cvlc' to us
e vlc without interface.
[0344b2b4] qt4 interface error: cannot start Qt4 multiple times
[0344b2b4]qt4 generic error: cannot start Qt4 multiple times
[0344b2b4] skins2 interface error: no suitable dialogs provider found (hint: com
pile the qt4 plugin, and make sure it is loaded properly)
[0344b2b4] skins2 interface error: cannot instanciate qt4 dialogs provider
[00522a6c] main libvlc error: interface "default" initialization failed

As I mentioned I'm not really an IT wizard and have no idea what the above means.

Thanks again

Delete %appdata%/vlc folder in your machine.

Thanks very much for you answer and sorry for replying so late, but I have been away. How do I delete the %appdata%/vlc folder on my machine? Sorry, but I'm no IT person at all. I looked at some of the other posts and tried to find it under C:\Users\my username, but there is nothing. There is no VLC folder, so what am I doing wrong?

Use %appdata% in your file explorer toolbar.

Hi,

I am also having same issue. I compiled vlc 2.0.2 in my windows 7 desktop. When I run the vlc it gives same error.
[015feab0] oldrc interface: VLC media player - 2.0.2 Twoflower
[015feab0] oldrc interface: Copyright c 1996-2012 VLC authors and VideoLAN
[015feab0] oldrc interface:
Warning: if you cannot access the GUI anymore, open a command-line window, go to
the directory where you installed VLC and run "vlc -I qt"

Remote control interface initialized. Type `help' for help.
I don't have the vlc folder in %appdata% path.
What could be the reason for this issue and also how can I fix this issue?

Please help.

Regards,
Bala
