Hello, I just installed VLC 0.8.2 on my Win2k dual Athlon system to play DVDs. It works splendidly on many movies, but some movies have occasional hiccups where the audio and video hesitate for a second or so. The problem is repeatable, always happening at the same spots in the movie. All these movies play smoothly in WinDVD and Media Player Classic. These are all commercial region 1 disks, no bootlegs.
Here's the messages from one hiccup in "Shrek" (right after the Dreamworks logo fades):

Similar hiccups in "The Incredibles".
When the problem occurs, it's always immediately after one of those message bursts that begins with DVDNAV_NOP. (What do they mean?) A small percentage of those message bursts have the hiccup problem.
Anyone else seen this problem? Suggestions?
I tried both my IDE and Firewire DVD drives - same problem. I tried VLC 0.7.2 - same problem. I tried increasing caching, but no effect. I tried recompressing "Shrek" onto a DVD-R by using DVD Shrink 3.2, and it hiccups at exactly the same locations as the original disk.
My graphics is nVidia 6800. Audio is Hercules Fortissimo II with Win2k default drivers.
What else can I try?
Thank you.
