Unified Video Decoder (ATI/AMD UVD) support

Postby N3M3 » 20 Aug 2007 18:54

I would like to watch H.264 Full HD (1080p) streams via VLC (Source is a multicast DVB-S2 HDTV stream). My CPU Athlon 64 3000 isn't fast enough to watch this without UVD support. I have a Ati Radeon HD 2xxx card in usw. H.264 Trailer 1080p could be watched with about 5% CPU usage if i use PowerDVD with UVD enabled.

Thx

AFAIK ATI/AMD hasn't release any open specs how to use UVD. Also I think it is more a job of FFMPEG team than VLC team.
