VLC 0.7.2 and PowerDVD version 4 conflict in Win ME

Postby david71 » 15 Jun 2004 17:03

If I play discs or files with VLC 0.7.2 on my eMachine 1.1GHz/512pc100/40GB/ WinMe there is no video with the default settings. I have to click Settings>Preferences>General Settings>highlight Video>Advanced Options>and toggle the pane for Video output module to "Windows video GDI output". I think this is because PowerDVD somehow takes my DirectX all for itself and hides it. I've upgraded to DirectX 8.1, but the InterActual DVD player reports that I have version 4.x, and won't play any movie except the ones that come with IA on the disc. Even the dvd player that came with WinME won't play and reports strange errors. I had an earlier Windows version on VLC (0.6.8 I think) that played very poorly, and I thought it was VLC's fault, but I decided to give it another try.
