Subtitles: Why can't I change the color?

Postby willeyeam » 26 Dec 2006 10:04

I have a movie (avi/xvid) that i downloaded subs (srt) for, from opensubtitles.
here you can find the name of the file, etc:
http://www.opensubtitles.org/en/subtitl ... bad-cop-en

The subs work fine, the only thing is that they're white.
I tried prefs>video>subs and enabled text renderer, and in prefs>video>subs>text renderer i set the default color to yellow.
i quit VLC and restarted it, but now the error screen says:
osdmenu/default.cfg
main: creating OSD menu object failed
osdmenu: osdmenu filter discarded
this resulted in no subs at all.
even when i went to prefs>video>subs and unchecked the box for the text renderer, saved, quit, restart, still no subs. I had to delete the prefs, or "reset all" in the prefs.

to make it more interesting, those were the symptoms everytime except this last time...
this last time the subs stuck around despite the error, but of course they were white. and when i unchecked the text renderer option all was well.

In the end, I can't figure out how to change the color of the subs, and would really like to use that feature.

BTW, props to those who made this App, i love it (and props to opensubtitles)
