red/blue pixel problem 0.8.5

Postby 0x » 18 Nov 2006 13:15

hi,
i have the following problem. when i play a video file (does not matter what codec) i have random red and blue pixels while playing it. sometimes more sometimes none. i updated my gfx card (radeon 9800) drivers to 36790 but this did still not fix my problem.
i searched this forum and tried my luck on google but it seems i am the only one with this problem ... appreciating any ideas regarding this issue!

edit: i have the xvid codec (autoGK) installed and when i play a (xvid) file with the old media player i don't have this pixel problem.

Try shutting off the video acceleration inside VLC. Settings, Preferences, Video, untick the "Overlay video output" box and save. Now close VLC and restart. Then try to call a file, within VLC.

Just a thought.. I had a similar problem when my video card cooler broke down and the card was overheating. Or when there was some other video application on the background.

Hi,
I unticked the "overlay video output" but I still have the same problem.
My video card is not overheating ... anyway thanks for your ideas.

Try one of the other video output modules, there is now Direct3D, DirectX and OpenGL. You can select them on win32 through the Quick Settings shortcuts in the Programs menu.

oh thx,
i unticked YUV to RGB conversion and the triple buffering for overlay in the video -> directx settings and now the red/blue pixels are gone ... hurray!
