I've searched the forums but the posts are quite old and I hope its possible. One thing though, I've only used VLC for AVI playback so I'm no expert be gentle.

OS X 10.4.9, VLC 0.8.5 on an Intel iMac Core Duo.
1024 is a port in the "System" range. Normal users can't create services on those port. Use higher port numbersfurther error reports

There was an error in how the address information was specified. I can't tell from this what the error was, but VLC made an error reading the informationmain: Cannot resolve http port 8080 : No address associated with nodename
main: cannot create socket(s) for HTTP host
access_output_http: cannot listen on http:8080
stream_out_standard: no suitable sout access module for `http/ts://http::1024//192.168.1.115'
