Auto-play dvd?

I have set up my Mac to automatically start VLC when a DVD is inserted. However, although VLC opens, it does not play the DVD. Is there a way I can set VLC so that it will automatically start playing in this situation? Thanks.

Not currently unfortunately.

Apple didn't really make it easy to do this. I haven't figured out which exact Apple Event i have to capture for this.

In the meantime, do you have any idea how to do this in Apple Script? I can figure out how to launch VLC with the script, but not how to make it start playing.
