Does x264 work in the Intel builds?

Postby SnakeEyes » 02 Sep 2006 03:26

And are the adjustable settings for it found in the Intel version? I'm trying to help someone else but do not have an Intel machine to verify this.

Excepting Goom Audio Visualisation, all features and settings are the same on PowerPC- and Intel-based Macs, so you can help your acquaintance without touching an Intel-Mac.

Odd because I have Intel Mac users telling me they don't have Preferences -> Input / Codecs -> Video Codecs -> x264. They say only Fake and Theora is listed.

To my big surprise, I just noticed that x264 was in fact disabled for the Intel-nightlies. This will hopefully be fixed in the next nightly build, which should be done in 2 hours.

Due to some major build system changes, the nightly builds are suspended for the moment. I hope that this will be restored soon, without hurting any team member severly. Sorry for any inconvenience.

No problem, if you don't mind can you post here when it's resumed... or let me know of a previous Intel build with x264 enabled?

There is no Intel-build with x264 except for the 0.8.5 release, and I'm not too sure about this either.

If everything goes well, the nightly builds will be up again this evening. At present, a nasty bug in Apple's disk-image creation frameworks stops us.

Okay, we're on the run. The nightlies will finally be finished in 1.5 hours and followed by another round until 2 PM CEST.

VLC 085 release version for Intel Mac doesn't know about H264.

Looking forward to some h264 encoding on intel.

George

We just seem to forgot enabling that support in the last release. There was no technical problem limiting us...

Feel free to download yesterday's nightly build (which won't be build this night btw. due to continued build system changes) and give it a try. The final release will be faster and far more stable of course.

So the most recent nightlies have x264 enabled?

Thanks for creating the ticket. Could you please download the forthcoming nightly build and post a new crash-log? At present, your log only shows that x264 crashes, but not where. The next log should be more precise.
