0.8.5 upnp support

Postby masterplumber » 01 Sep 2006 23:46

I used apt-get install vlc to install the latest version on my ubuntu desktop and get no mention of upnp in the dropdown menu under Service Discovery. I noticed somewhere that the cyberlink option is not enabled by default. Do I need this to get upnp support? If so, how would I go about enabling it? Would I need to get a hold of the source and then do it all myself?

I'm guessing that I need to get a hold of the source and compile it with upnp support enabled...

apt-get build-dep vlc will help you a lot in order to compile VLC....

I'm trying to get upnp too...
If I build my own vlc with the bunch of pkgs suggested by apt-get, can I remove those packages later - after compilation?
Thank you
