Default Video Source

Postby sperry » 19 May 2004 22:26

When using VLC-0.7.2-test3 for streaming using Hauppauge WinTV card as video source, the video input seems to default/switch to tuner.

This happens even though input was set to composite using Hauppauge application.

Is there a way to change this default within VLC. Using WinXP.

thanks for the great prorgam...

Not sure about your OS.

If you're in Windows, launch VLC, select Settings -- Preferences. Check the Advanced Options box in the lower right of the window. Then, in the frame on the left, select Modules -- Access -- Dshow. Do a Refresh List next to Video, then select your input card. Then use the Configure button to set up any defaults. Repeat for the Audio source, if needed/desired.

Video size is defined as NxM, where N and M have to be a valid resolution pair. For example, on my Webcam I use 320x240.

Click the Save button to store the defaults, which will then be preserved.

Hi
I have exactly the same problem here!
I'd like to capture video from a Leadtek Winfast TV 2000 with VLC 0.7.2, the video input seems to defaults to tuner whatever input I selected before.
I never managed to use the composite or svideo input of my card with VLC, it keeps on displaying the tuner...
Is there any solution? or is this a bug?

thx in advance!

This family of questions seems to come up a lot lately.

Would it not be possible to get a drop down list of all enumerated pins that the Directvideo source is reporting? Then to be able to use this to force VLC to connect to a specific one?

Looking in the debug log I can see that VLC is enumerating the pins and then selects one. What is the logic behind the automatic selection?

Is it for instance possible to force this using command line options?

Cheers!

I'm also having that same problem, I'm using Windows and all the streaming things is working, but when it pops up to ask me what settings to use, I change it to composite, but then it asks me what channel to use and it just gets changed back. I somehow had gotten it to work by having VNC and the WinTV program opened and running at the same time, but all means this shouldn't have worked (because two programs can't connect to the same thing at the same time) but it did stream properly except for the hue was inverted (green became red)

Did anybody found fix, or workaround? I Have same problem can't get video in, shows black screen in direct show, can't switch to Svideo, it always defaults to tuner input.

XP, Nvidia FX5900 with VIVO. VLC 0.7.2
