DVB-S frontend problem

Postby MacZero » 18 Aug 2006 14:23

Hi,
I trie to use vlc as streaming server for my dvb-s card. But I have only limited success and maybe someone could help me.

The problem occurs on every channel, except one or two (they work fine).
My card is a new Terratec Cinergy 1200 DVB-S, and I'm using Debian (stable).
tvoip:~/.szap# cat channels.conf |grep DSF
DSF:12480:v:0:27500:1023:1024:900

Hello,

It looks like the signal that comes to the frontend is not correct. Have you had any success with other programs, like dvbstream or dvbtune ? It might be a physical problem.

thx for your help.
It semms that the problem only occurs on a symbolrate != 275000...

Ok I really need help. I updatet to: VLC media player 0.8.5.

I can't figure out why it works on a few channels and on many others not

For example:
DSF:12480:v:0:27500:1023:1024:900
I start vlc with:
vlc -vvv --color --ts-es-id-pid qpsk/ts: --dvb-frequency=12480000 --program=900 --dvb-srate=27500000 --sout '#std{access=http,mux=ts,url=:8100}'
and it works great - so everything is perfect.

But, if i try out for example:
ORF1:12692:h:0:22000:160:161:13001

It seems that the Frontend problem occurs the most time on horizontal channels or on vertical channels with a symbolrate != 275000. What could be the problem for that? The sat-system was installed by a professional company.

And on some vertical channels + symbolrate=275000 that problem occurs:

Did you try to switch between horizontal (18Volt) and vertical(13Volt) with --dvb-voltage=13 or 18 ?

Thx for your tip.

I tried it with:
Eurosport:12226:h:0:27500:101:103:31200
And it works with the "voltage" switch and without, so I'm a little bit confused.

It seems that only the main channels like (ProSieben, Sat1, DSF, Eurosport, usw.) work. What make them different?

For example, if I try "Bahn-TV" (also with --dvb-voltage=18)
Bahn TV:12633:h:0:22000:201:301:12600
it got the frontend-error.
tvoip:~/.szap# szap "Bahn TV"
reading channels from file '/root/.szap/channels.conf'
zapping to 626 'Bahn TV':
sat 0, frequency = 12633 MHz H, symbolrate 22000000, vpid = 0x00c9, apid = 0x012d
using '/dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0' and '/dev/dvb/adapter0/demux0'
status 01 | signal c591 | snr 9d17 | ber 0000a310 | unc 00000000 |
status 1f | signal d33c | snr d833 | ber 00000300 | unc 00000000 | FE_HAS_LOCK
status 1f | signal d1a8 | snr d8a2 | ber 00000000 | unc 00000000 | FE_HAS_LOCK
Why does the signal and snr values look like that? Shouldn't they have a decimal value? What does that mean?

thx for your help

Can you post the complete vlc comand line you are using for "Bahn-TV"?

Ok I used the wrong symbol rate, so it works with "Bahn-TV". thx ;)

But there is still the problem with the invalid header, and I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

For example:
ORF1:12692:h:0:22000:160:161:13001
VLC command:
vlc -vvv -I dummy --color --ts-es-id-pid qpsk/ts: --dvb-frequency=12692000 --program=13001 --dvb-srate=22000000 --dvb-voltage=18 --sout '#std{access=http,mux=ts,url=:8100}'
vlc output:

Maybe I need a CI card for that channel?
Seems so, Kaffeine.sf.net think that ORF1 is encrypted.
I don't know if vlc support CICAM.

Really thx for your help.
What about for example: "TV Paprika"
I don't know what that is, i just selected it for testing.
I have a frontend problem on that channel.
TV Paprika:11992:h:0:27500:351:360:20332
vlc -vvv -I dummy --color --ts-es-id-pid qpsk/ts: --dvb-frequency=11992000 --program=20332 --dvb-srate=27500000 --dvb-voltage=18 --sout '#std{access=http,mux=ts,url=:8100}'
P.S.: Is there a way to filter crypted channels from the channels.conf?

Thx I filtered the Free-to-Air channels, but it is a little bit crazy. It sometimes loose lock, and sometimes not.

I found on the web: http://linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Terra ... B-S_budget

And it seems that they didn't fixed it yet.

Edit: I bougth an old revision of the card and everything works...
