player disappears when changed to skin2

i am having a problem here.
when i change my skin to skin2, my player disappears although the player still on at the taskbar. i can only right click and close from the taskbar.

i am on xp home edtn

Reset your preferences and restart VLC.

If it's still not working, it may be due to a user name containing non-ascii characters. For this problem, the only solution (apart from changing the user...) is to download the development version of VLC, where this bug is fixed. You can find it there: http://nightlies.videolan.org/
