i can't play dvd because of region code

hi i have this problem with the player. VLC's supposed to play DVDs regardless of region codes, but mine simply can't! i'm using a Mac OS X 10.4.7. can someone please help???

It's probably not VLC but rather your DVD player in your computer. Just rip the dvd with MacTheRipper. Hope this helps.

It won't. It's due to the drive's firmware.
