Need help PLZ!

I've been using vlc for a year now and love it. But I recently I've been experiencing a problem. I'm unable to start vlc. I try to execute it but it does nothing, it doesn't even appear in my system processes. Can someone plz help me.

Here are some of my system specs:
windows XP
1.68 processor
1 gig ram
ti 4800 video card

I doubt it has anything to do with hardware problems. I think it might have something to do with windows xp.

Have you tried downloading a new, complete copy of VLC, something like the 0.7.2-test2?

I'm running VLC on an XP home edition PC, consistently works fine -- I'd almost wonder if a library got blown away on your PC.
