A Question about redesigning VLC Download page

Postby Tombigel » 09 Jun 2006 20:51

I've noticed that the ftp mirros links in "VLC for Windows Download Page" are the same for all downloadable file types.

I'm thinking of creating a form with radio buttons or select list to minimise the amount of data on the page.
is it acceptible?

example:

Code: Select all

Select the file to download (Select browse for more file types or versions): O Windows self-extracting package - vlc-0.8.5-win32.exe (7.9MB) O Windows 7zip packages - vlc-0.8.5-win32.7z (6.9MB) O Windows ZIP packages - vlc-0.8.5-win32.zip (6.9MB) O Browse FTP to find other or older versions Choose Download source from the folowing list: [here comes a select element or another radio button list] [submit button]

Well it would require the user to think before being able to download :) These lists should be kept as is for the time being (we're thinking about having a single link per item and then chosing a random mirror)
