Question/problem: When i hit the pause button, it doesnt make a snapshot of the pic in the pause mode! It makes first a snapshot when I run the video again and then it makes a snapshot some 0.x secs later.First we'll create a folder on your desktop where the images will be stored.
To do this open VLC, go to Settings, then Preferences.
Highlight Video. Click the Browse button. Select Desktop, click the Make New Folder button. Type a folder name.
Now we'll capture an image.
Open a file and while the movie is playing, click the pause button.
Go to Video, then select Snapshot.
That's it. The image should be inside the folder you just created.

Is it normal that you just can do snapshots of running videos?
OKThere is a hotkey for snapshot, which is Alt-Ctrl-s by default.
Go to Settings -> Preferences... -> Interface -> Hotkeys settings -> check off Advanced options -> Take video snapshot, to change this shortcut.
