Streaming to web....

Postby chachi » 31 May 2006 18:28

Hi there...

I was wondering if anyone has had sucess streaming to an http browser and if so how they did it...

I'd like to stream from a video camera at home to a linux machine then out to the internet.

Fill my upload pipe from home with one connection to an http server then multicast or redistibute the video (no sound) over the web using the host's bandwidth.

So far I can get it to work but only if I connect with vlc not with any other browser. how do I parse the mime type so that it will play in IE or Firefox?

Thanks in advance....
Chachi

clients:install vlc mozilla plugin, then open the stream with a link or direct in the browser#s window with following command:
http://localhost:8080

and localhost is the ip-address of your server

serverside: start vlc open your webcam stuff or anything, just trying and take the option stream to http://localhost:8080
