Mozilla Plugin: Where are my player controls?

Postby Guest » 30 May 2006 06:19

I installed the Mozilla plugin for Firefox 1.5, but I don't get any player controls (play, pause, seek) when viewing video files. Is this normal, or is my installation broken in some way? I tried looking around the feature list and forum but didn't see any information on this.

The manual has some examples:

Code: Select all

http://www.videolan.org/doc/play-howto/en/ch04.html#id293936
There are also some test pages that show some of the plugin's features:

Code: Select all

thanks for the re -- from that page it looks like the plugin will not work well unless the page has been specifically written with it in mind.

By contrast, both the Windows Media and Quicktime plugins for Mozilla include built-in player controls and do not depend on external javascript buttons. Are there plans to include this functionality in future versions?

I have VLC installed on two computer Linux and Windows and in Firefox there are no controls on either. I don't think that there were any in the first place. That is the way VLC was made I guess. Hopefully this will get fixed in the future.
