How can I record?

Postby vinny » 18 Mar 2006 17:23

I have just used VLC on my PC for 2 days. I see this is very interesting but I don't see any "Record" function for recording a video that I like, "Timeshift" also. How can I do this? Please show me because I'm really new in this forum! Thanks for reading!

I only use VLC through my computer, not set top box or TV.

The easy answer is push the Record button :P "ctrl r"

The more difficult, is setting it up so that it works. 8)

VLC is not a recorder nor a PVR. It was never intended to replace the software that came with your capture device and it will take you some time and creativity on your part to get it to work for the various functions you may want from it.

Uhm, as your instruction, I pressed Ctrl+R, it worked, it showed "Recording" on the screen and then I could play the file I had recorded. But another problem is that's the first time I could record, now I can't, I don't know why it doesn't show "Recording" or record any file when I press Ctrl+R anymore! Please help me!

Obviously you didn't read my post or the documents I sent you to read.

Not all source formats are compatible with all transcode functions. If you have a common source format you can set the default encoder for transcode.

DJ, please help!

It's been a long time that I come back to my PC and play VLC Player, however, the record hotkeys is now ineffective any more. Please help me because I always love to capture all my favorite clips. :)
