I can't change my default skin... help!

Postby Guest » 17 May 2006 16:25

Preferences>Interface>Main interfaces>Interface module>Skinnable Interface>Save

...and then I close the player and restart it and it's back to the original skin. What am I doing wrong?

You probably set is as an "Extra interface" module instead of selecting it in the dropdown box for the main Interface.

Are you sure the preferences file is saved correctly? Check its modification date...
It should contain a line "intf=skins2".

Its exact location depends on your system, see http://www.videolan.org/doc/faq/en/index.html#id278399.

Hi I have tried all the above.

Everytime I restart VLC it just goes back to default 'Windows style' skin.

BTW, you should make this a sticky topic! :)

The VLC player doesn't save the preferences correctly in version 0.8.5. I've downloaded version 0.8.6 test1 and it DOES save the skinning preferences when using the following method:

Preferences > General > Main interface > Select Skinned interface from the dropdown menu.

Click save and restart..! :D

I found this 0.8.6 version here.
