Upgrade from 0.8.1 to 0.8.4 Breaks transcoding of Video-bug?

Postby dbrossard » 13 Jan 2006 20:58

I upgraded to version 0.8.4 yesterday and now I cannot http stream some of my video files. I am transcoding all video's from several formats to mp4v. Here is my command line:
vlc -vvv --logfile="/var/www/vlc-log.html" --logmode=html -I http --http-host :8081 "$1" vlc:quit --sout='#transcode{vcodec=mp4v,vb=384,scale=1,acodec=mpga,ab=64,channels=2}:duplicate{dst=std{access=http,mux=asf,url=:8080}}'

Here is the portion of the debug output that shows the error:

[00000267] main stream output debug: adding a new input
[00000268] stream_out_transcode private debug: creating video transcoding from fcc=`DIV2' to fcc=`mp4v'
[00000281] main decoder debug: looking for decoder module: 22 candidates
[00000281] ffmpeg decoder debug: libavcodec initialized (interface 3276800 )
[00000281] ffmpeg decoder debug: postprocessing disabled
[00000281] ffmpeg decoder debug: ffmpeg codec (MS MPEG-4 Video v2) started
[00000013] main module debug: using decoder module "ffmpeg"
[00000282] main encoder debug: looking for encoder module: 7 candidates
[00000282] ffmpeg encoder debug: libavcodec already initialized
[00000282] ffmpeg encoder debug: found encoder MPEG-4 Video
[00000015] main module debug: using encoder module "ffmpeg"
[00000015] main module debug: unlocking module "ffmpeg"
[00000282] main encoder debug: looking for encoder module: 7 candidates
[00000282] ffmpeg encoder debug: libavcodec already initialized
[00000282] ffmpeg encoder warning: timebase not supported by mpeg 4 standard
(mpeg4@0x8636b70)
[00000282] ffmpeg encoder error: cannot open encoder
[00000268] stream_out_transcode private error: cannot find encoder
[00000281] ffmpeg decoder debug: ffmpeg codec (MS MPEG-4 Video v2) stopped

This file worked fine with verision 0.8.1. Is this a bug?

How and where do I post a bug report?

vlc_devel@videolan.org is the best way to get an answer *if* you have intersting debug to show. I'd first advise that you try 0.8.5-test4 first.
