Sony SNC Ip Cam support ? this was fixed wasn't it ?

Postby M.a.r.k.u.s » 10 Apr 2006 17:45

Hi,

I have tried to get my Sony SNC-M3 cam to work with vlc but no success.

I know there is a Solution, but i can't find the post anymore in the forums, i think it was in the Linux Forums...but i am not sure.

########
main debug: `http://<ipnumberremoved>//img/video.asf' successfully opened
asf warning: cannot peek while getting new packet, EOF ?
main debug: EOF reached
main debug: closing input
#############

It also does not work with the mjpeg mode of the camera

########
main debug: creating demux: access='http' demux='' path='<ipnumberremoved>/img/mjpeg.cgi?Speed=s'
main debug: looking for demux2 module: 40 candidates
ts error: cannot peek
ffmpeg debug: couldn't guess format
ps warning: this does not look like an MPEG PS stream, continuing anyway
main debug: using demux2 module "ps"
main debug: `http:://<ipnumberremoved>/img/mjpeg.cgi?Speed=s' successfully opened
ps warning: garbage at input, trying to resync...
main debug: EOF reached
#########

I am very sure a french Guy found a solution for The Sony SNC IP Cams, it had something to do with the http access libray is i remember corectly. But i cannot find that thread anymore.

Greezt,

Markus

That serves me right. It was working earlier and now it does not. I should never have posted that :)
Here's the error from the GUI box (xx.xx.xx.xx is the camera IP):

Connection failed:
VLC could not connect to "xx.xx.xx.xx:554".
Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'rtsp://xx.xx.xx.xx/media/video0'. Check the log for details.

But I know that this is the recommended method, and I know that it was working, and I can't identify what's changed.
Now it's me asking for help. The camera is a Sony SNC RX570N.

Another thing: the error message above mentions "the log".
I can't find any logs in the installed VLC folder, and no mention in any documentation I've scanned. Is there really an error log?

And a final thing about the first error message (the one at the top; but it occurs last I think):
I am not specifying port 554. Is this a default RTSP port or something else?

FYI, /media/video1 does not work either.
Neither does "usr:pswd@" prefix format work.
Neither does appending the actual video port (default 50000 for Sony it seems).
Or indeed all combinations of the above.

Tools -> Messages (set Verbosity to 2) shows the log. And please, don't wake up OLD threads.
