There is an option you can enable it:
Settings - Preferences - Interface - General - wxWidgets - check "Show systray icon", Save and Restart.

Then you got an icon in the systray, click on it and the interface disappears.
A Right-click allows you to select the next, previous track and more.

Is there a Windows command line option to hide the interface? I'm setting up a shortcut so that a video automatically starts playing on the Windows desktop when the computer boots. I've got everything working right except that the player window and controls aren't hidden and I have to do this with the tray icon. Is there a way to have it default to hidden?
