VLC - Streaming a TV Channel from DVB-T

Hi there,

i try to stream a TV to another network. I use Debian Sarge with 2.6.15.6 Kernel, a Haupauge DBV-T card called Nova-T Model 928, and kernel integrated DVB drivers. I'm not a Linux expert, so i'm quite pleased to get this working :)

The signal must be converted thus Windows Media Player can understand it. I think MPEG4 Video with MP3 audio should be okay. I read about VLC - the conversion wont be the problem, i think, but whats with streaming a TV channel?

I read about compiling VLC with DVB input support ... how do i do that?

Is that okay?

Another problem: there is no graphical interface on the debian machine and that should stay like that, its a server. Is it possible to realise above mentioned things without any X?

Any help or thoughts to my plans are welcome :)

I just trying to compile VLC with

and it says

Seems to be two incompatible versions ... i deleted the routine which checks the pp support - ffmpeg was correctly compiled.

Another Question: Do i need VLC or VLS to stream a TV Channel from a DVB-T card? Some say VLC, some say VLS ...

I use the 2.6.15 Kernel drivers for the Hauppauge Nova-T cards, modules are loaded and they seem to work.

Now i want to stream a TV channel, but i get stuck on watching TV.
In the DVB Tab in the GUI, i tried the following:

I read the streaming how-to, most parts of the forum but i cant fagure out whats wrong with it. I seems like its okay, except the "No Lock - tuning again".

Can someone drop a helping line?
