Unable to download subtitle recently in Fire TV

Hi.
I'm not sure if this is the right place but I think Amazon Fire TV is using Android underneath

My VLC player was working nicely when trying to download subtitle but recently it stopped working. No error or anything and it just shows "try again later" message but it never works

I went to Subtitles settings and there is no option to enter my login info for OpenSubtitle website and there is no settings anywhere in regards to connection etc. My Fire TV definitely is connected to the internet because I can see it's playing moveis from other apps

What I've done so far:
- Offloaded and installed VLC
- Restarted Fire TV
- Used Fire TV network status check and no issues
- Checked all the settings
- Cleared VLC cache
- Checked Fire TV app store to see if there is any update, there was none - I am using VLC version 3.5.4

I know I can manually download and place the srt file in the movie folder but you can imagine how painful it is to do that for each and every episode

To be honest I actually switched to Kobi instead because I needed the subtitles
