VLC 3.5.7 on Android 12 very sloooow to scan internal memory

Postby TheAnt » 19 Oct 2024 15:18

Hello
with 4G data connection enabled on my Poco X3 Nfc, VLC 3.5.7 is very slow to scan internal memory and often it fails to scan at all. With WiFi or without any connection it is very fast to scan. It's Android 12/MIUI 14.0.5. What can I check to fix it?

This is probably related to that: https://code.videolan.org/videolan/vlc- ... ssues/2836

To avoid that, you can try to launch VLC without going in the browse screen.

Go to the video (or any other than Browse) section -> Kill the app -> relaunch it.

I've been having this happen recently. It seems to be an issue if any network locations are in your favorites and that location is not available.

In my case it was smb mounts on my lan and then everything hung when I was away from home. If you remove them from favorites the internal memory files come up immediately.

There's still a bug there but that is at least a workaround if that's what others are seeing.
