Playlists Empty

Postby azhun_ctech » 04 Nov 2024 03:35

I have noticed that I will build a playlist and have my songs on there but after a couple days (to about a week) I'll open up VLC and then the playlist will be there but have 0 songs. Nothing changes on the device (pixel 7 pro) as far as the music goes but still the playlist is empty...why is this? Is it a bug or by design? Wondering if Android requires permission for storage to fix this?

No. All of them are stored on my phones internal storage.

This should not happen. I'm not sure how we could reproduce to understand what is happening.
To help us, you could export your media database before and after the issue. To do so: Settings > Advanced > Dump app database. You can then share those files. Keep in mind that it will contain all your media names.

Sounds good. Thanks! Do you want me to just upload them here when it's done or is there a better way to get them to you?

You won't be able to upload it here. You can use a service like Google Drive to share it.

Also may be worth noting that I noticed anything in the downloads folder seems to stay. Anything in the internal storage/music folder gets wiped. That's where most of the music is and it appears I have to manually refresh to pull the songs back to be played but I don't understand why, and it also doesn't put them back on the playlists when the music does reappear.

Sorry, I just took the time to look and it seems I mislead you into sharing the wrong database. What would be interesting for us is the media database (the setting just overs) and not the app one.

Hi!

Were those files helpful? It has continued to happen a few times. Wonder if it's possibly tied to Android auto since it seems to happen after it connects to my car but not every time.

I just took a look. I see no difference between the before and after. I see you have two playlists: one is empty, the other has on tracks. Is this right?
How are you creating those playlists?

Interesting. I shared two files again of the before and after. Wonder if they have changed.

That is correct. I have two playlists but one should have 6-7 songs and the other has 7-8 songs. When the error happens it wipes the songs that are in the music folder from the playlists and leaves songs from the download folder only.

I am creating those playlists in the android app and then adding songs from the tracks page to the playlists.

Does that help more? Thanks for your help!

I only received one shared file (vlc_database_before1.zip) and it's the wrong database again.

Apologies. Shared two files with the media db. One playlist has 6 songs and the other 10 before the wipe.
