VLC on iPad does not show the sidebar

All the documentation says there is a sidebar, but I don't see it on my iPad running the latest iPadOS. I only have menu options along the bottom (Video, Audio, Playlists, Network, Settings), and no sidebar. Anyone know if this feature has been removed, or how to get it back? Thanks in advance.

We removed the sidebar many years ago. All features are available through the tabs at the bottom. No feature was removed.

The ability to distinguish TV sows from movies was on the sidebar. Now it is nowhere.

Ah yes, that is indeed the only feature we removed. However, VLC should still automatically group your TV shows based on the filename.

It doesn’t, though. Not properly, anyway. A bunch of files named in this format:

Yellowstone.S01E01
Yellowstone.S01E02
Yellowstone.S02E01

Will be grouped as “Yellowstone S0”
