Unrelated image displaying when playing audio files

Postby lunardolls » 03 May 2024 12:45

When I play audio-only files (e.g. MP3, WAV), VLC will display an image completely unrelated to the audio file. I do recognize the image and it is stored somewhere else on my computer but I have never done anything to associate the image with any of my audio files.

It is happening regardless of which audio file I pick.

How can I remove the image? I just want the default black screen with the big VLC logo to be what displays when I play audio files.

Things I have already tried to no avail:
- Unchecking the metadata option
- Clearing the art folder in %appdata%
- Uninstalling and reinstalling (selected the "delete cache" option on both the uninstall and the reinstall)
- Used MP3tag on the audio files to try to remove album art (but there was no album art attached on any of them of course)

Untick Allow Metadata Network Access in the Preferences, exit VLC and then clear again the art folder in %appdata% and the image should not be back.

I did this and unfortunately the image is still there :(

Then there is a pic named front.*, cover.*, folder.* or disc.* which is located in the same folder as the audio files.

That's the problem I just ran into. I had a "front.jpg" in the same folder. Renaming it to "Front.jpg" fixed the problem.

Is there a way to disable this default behavior?

I could just modify the code, and recompile it. But that's more time consuming.
