DVD CC/'hard of hearing' subtitles

Postby willow__ » 16 Jun 2024 21:13

Hi!
I haven't played DVDs though VLC before, but right now I'm trying to play one that is supposed to have "hard of hearing" subtitles. Problem is, I can't enable them though the subtitles tab in VLC. I managed to find a post about the DVD I'm trying to play from someone saying they're only supposed to be able to be enabled with the CC function of a TV. Would VLC be able to enable those subtitles? Or can VLC already do that and the DVD just doesn't have any subtitles on it?

You can select subtitle tracks from the ad-hoc submenu. That also goes for Closed Captions but your comment makes no sense: it's not possible for a TV set to enable CC; that's something the (physical) DVD player would have to do.
