after update, VLS opens portrait videos sideways

VLS always opened portrait videos correctly in the past, but now after a recent update the program opens all portrait videos sideways, with the aspect ratio squished so it does not look correct. I have been unable to correct the problem using the Tools-Adjustments and Effects-Geometry settings. All landscape videos open correctly. I am at a loss as to how to fix the problem.

Please open Tools -> Messages (set Verbosity to 2) before you start the playback, and then paste the full resulting log here or on Pastebin.com or on Justpaste.it if it's too long.

200 MB max should be enough but a full complete short file is better.
