Recording, not saving...

Postby Shiyar » 15 May 2024 22:37

Afternoon,

So I was trying to save a small, maybe 10 second clip from a 40+ minute video and when I pressed record, a line formed around the record button and when it got past the part I wanted I clicked it again, the border line disappeared. I waited a few minutes, checked documents/videos and nothing new there. So I checked quick access but saw the last file activity was the source video, no output. Double checked the preference and the record folder is set to documents/videos. One site said make sure VLC was updated, so I updated it to the current version, tried again, no joy. Someone else said it might take several minutes to render, so I tried again, waited about 8 minutes, no joy. I've tried several times on the video, nothing is ever generated. I tried a different video that was only about 30 seconds long and tried to save about 10 seconds of it out, but no joy either.

I tried setting it to loop the section I wanted but as soon as I clicked record it left the loop and started playing the rest of the video.

I also noticed that the player doesn't like me moving the cursor on the time bar much. The video freezes after a few times and the audio keeps playing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Try with a nightly build:
https://nightlies.videolan.org

Or use a dedicated video tool such as AviDemux:
